SyncCal vs Clockwise
SyncCal vs Clockwise: Sync Engine vs Smart Scheduler
Clockwise optimizes your meeting time inside one Google or Outlook calendar. SyncCal mirrors events across multiple calendars. Different categories, often complementary.
Verdict
Clockwise is best for teams that want their existing calendar reorganized by an AI assistant (meeting time consolidation, focus time defense, no-meeting day enforcement). SyncCal is best for keeping multiple calendar accounts in sync across providers. They solve different problems. If you have calendar fragmentation, only SyncCal addresses it. If you have a single calendar that needs smart scheduling, only Clockwise addresses it.
Side by side: SyncCal vs Clockwise
| Dimension | SyncCal | Clockwise |
|---|---|---|
| Primary job | Mirror events across multiple calendar accounts | Optimize meeting time and protect focus time within one calendar |
| Multi-account sync | First-class. Cross-tenant, cross-provider (Google, Outlook, iCloud, CalDAV) | Not the core feature. Reads one Google or Outlook calendar at a time. |

| Cross-tenant Microsoft 365 | Native, OAuth per tenant | Reads one tenant at a time |
| iCloud or CalDAV support | Native CalDAV via app-specific password | Not supported |
| Pricing tier with multi-calendar | 2.99 USD per month Pro covers unlimited calendars | Free tier with paid Teams plan for organization features |

The category confusion
Clockwise, Reclaim, Motion, and Akiflow all show up in the same Google search results for “calendar sync tool” because they all touch your calendar. They are NOT calendar sync tools. They are AI-assisted schedulers that operate within one calendar.
If you came here looking for a Clockwise alternative because you need to sync calendars across providers, you actually need a different category of product. SyncCal is in that category. Clockwise is not.
If you came here looking for a Clockwise alternative because you want a different AI scheduler with different opinions on focus time, the right comparisons are Reclaim, Motion, Akiflow, or sticking with Clockwise.
When SyncCal is the right pick over Clockwise
- You need calendar sync across multiple accounts.
- You use iCloud anywhere in your sync mesh.
- You are a consultant or contractor with multiple Microsoft 365 tenants.
- You want a flat-rate, low-cost tool that does one thing well.
- You do not need AI to reschedule your meetings.
When Clockwise is the right pick over SyncCal
- You have a single Google or Outlook calendar that you actually live in.
- Your team has a culture of flexible meeting times that can be auto-rearranged.
- You want focus time auto-placed and protected.
- You want no-meeting days enforced across your team.
When you want both
The combination works cleanly. SyncCal handles the cross-account mirroring (iCloud personal, second Google, client M365 tenants all mirrored into your primary). Clockwise then operates on that primary with the full picture. There is no integration to configure between them; both just see the calendar.
What this page is NOT
- A claim that SyncCal does AI scheduling. We do not.
- A takedown of Clockwise. It is an excellent product in its category.
- A guide to AI scheduling itself. See Clockwise’s own docs for that.

Frequently asked questions
Can Clockwise sync my iCloud or second Google account?
Not as of writing. Clockwise reads a single Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 account per user as its primary calendar. iCloud is not in the supported providers list. If iCloud sync is a requirement, SyncCal handles that piece while Clockwise continues to optimize your primary calendar.
Should I use SyncCal or Clockwise for focus time?
Clockwise. SyncCal does not schedule focus time. We mirror events. If you want an AI to put 2-hour blocks of deep work on your calendar based on your real availability, Clockwise (or Reclaim, or Motion) is the right tool. SyncCal makes sure those tools see your true availability when they decide where to place focus blocks.
Can I use both Clockwise and SyncCal together?
Yes, and the combination is common. SyncCal mirrors your secondary calendars (iCloud, personal Google, client M365 tenants) into your primary Google or Microsoft account. Clockwise then operates on that primary, with the full picture of your real availability.
Is Clockwise more expensive than SyncCal?
Different pricing models. Clockwise has a free tier and a paid Teams plan priced per seat. SyncCal Pro is a flat 2.99 USD per month for unlimited calendars per user. For an individual user comparing only direct cost, SyncCal Pro is cheaper than Clockwise Teams. The honest comparison is on features per dollar: they are not the same features.
What about Reclaim, Motion, and Akiflow?
All in the same AI-scheduler category as Clockwise. The differences are in specific features (Reclaim has habits and tasks, Motion has project-based scheduling, Akiflow is task-plus-calendar). SyncCal coexists with all of them. The choice between Clockwise vs Reclaim vs Motion is a separate decision from whether you need a sync engine. See our [Reclaim comparison](/compare/reclaim), [Motion comparison](/compare/motion), and [Akiflow comparison](/compare/akiflow) for the in-category breakdowns.
When should I NOT use Clockwise?
If your meetings are mostly external (client calls, customer meetings) where you cannot let an AI move them. Clockwise shines on internal flex-time meetings. If your day is mostly external bookings, the value drops sharply.
