SyncCal vs Reclaim
SyncCal vs Reclaim: Different Categories of Calendar Tool
Reclaim is an AI scheduling assistant. SyncCal is a sync engine. They solve different problems and you may want both, but only one of them addresses calendar fragmentation.
Verdict
Reclaim is best in class for AI-assisted scheduling within a single Google or Outlook calendar. SyncCal is best in class for keeping multiple calendars in sync across accounts and providers. The two are orthogonal - if you have a fragmented calendar problem AND want an AI scheduler, you use both.
Side by side: SyncCal vs Reclaim
| Dimension | SyncCal | Reclaim |
|---|---|---|
| Primary job | Mirror events between multiple calendar accounts | Schedule tasks and habits intelligently on one calendar |
| Multi-account sync | First-class. Cross-tenant Microsoft 365, iCloud, Google all supported | Has a Calendar Sync feature for one-way mirroring across your own accounts; less complete than dedicated sync tools |
| AI scheduling of tasks | Not in scope | Core product. Schedules habits, tasks, focus time based on priority |
| Title privacy across accounts | Busy-title rewrite by default for cross-account mirrors | Supports private events on its sync feature; less control over per-source rewrite |
| CalDAV / iCloud support | Native CalDAV via app-specific password | iCloud not supported as of writing; Google and Microsoft only |
| Pricing tier with multi-calendar sync | 2.99 USD per month Pro covers unlimited calendars | Calendar Sync available on Lite tier (free) but limited; full feature requires paid tier |
| Team scheduling features | Out of scope | Team scheduling, smart meetings, working hours coordination |
| Replaces the other? | No | No |
The category confusion
Search “Reclaim alternative” and Google returns a mix of:
- Other AI scheduling tools (Motion, Clockwise, Akiflow, BlockIt).
- Calendar sync tools (CalendarBridge, OneCal, SyncCal, SyncGene).
- General productivity tools (Todoist, Notion Calendar).
The first group is a true alternative if you want AI to put your focus time on the calendar. The second group is NOT an alternative - it solves a different problem (calendar fragmentation) that Reclaim partially addresses with its Calendar Sync feature but is not its core competency.
This page exists because some Reclaim users hit the limits of its Calendar Sync feature (no iCloud, less control over what mirrors where) and look for a dedicated sync tool. If that’s you, SyncCal is built for exactly that. If you’re looking for AI scheduling, keep using Reclaim.
When SyncCal is the better choice
- You need iCloud or any CalDAV calendar in your sync setup.
- You have more than two calendars to keep aligned.
- You need two-way sync between accounts (Reclaim’s Calendar Sync is one-way).
- You’re a consultant with multiple Microsoft 365 tenants to bridge.
- Your primary need is “Calendly should respect every calendar I own” and the AI scheduling features don’t matter to you.
When Reclaim is the better choice
- You want AI to schedule your focus time, tasks, and habits automatically.
- You only need calendar sync between two Google accounts (Reclaim’s free Calendar Sync handles this fine).
- Your team uses Reclaim’s smart meetings and habit features and you want the unified product.
- You don’t use iCloud anywhere.
When you want both
- You’re a consultant: use SyncCal for the cross-tenant Microsoft 365 sync, use Reclaim on your primary Google to AI-schedule your focus time.
- You run a freelancer setup with iCloud: use SyncCal to mirror iCloud into your business Google, use Reclaim on the business Google to schedule deep work.
- You have a sales team: use SyncCal for each rep’s personal-to-work mirror, use Reclaim if the team prefers it for meeting scheduling.
There’s no integration drama. SyncCal mirrors events at the API level. Reclaim doesn’t care where events came from when it places focus blocks around them. Both tools just see the calendar.
What this page is NOT
- A takedown of Reclaim. It’s an excellent AI scheduler. We use it ourselves.
- A claim that SyncCal does AI scheduling. We don’t. That’s not our pitch.
- A comparison of Reclaim vs Motion vs Clockwise. Different page (not yet written).
Frequently asked questions
Can Reclaim sync my iCloud calendar with my work Outlook?
Not as of writing. Reclaim's calendar integrations are Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook. iCloud is not supported on the source or target side. If you need iCloud anywhere in your sync mesh, you need a dedicated sync tool.
Should I use SyncCal or Reclaim for AI scheduling?
Reclaim. SyncCal does not have an AI scheduler. We mirror events; we do not decide when to put focus time on your calendar.
Should I use SyncCal or Reclaim for syncing two of my Google accounts?
Either works for this specific case. Reclaim's Calendar Sync handles Google-to-Google one-way mirroring on the free tier. SyncCal does the same plus two-way and adds iCloud and any CalDAV source if your needs grow.
Can I use both Reclaim and SyncCal together?
Yes, and many users do. Reclaim schedules your work on your primary Google or Outlook. SyncCal mirrors that primary into other accounts you also use (iCloud, second tenant, personal Google). They don't conflict because they operate on different calendar pairs.
Is Reclaim more expensive than SyncCal?
Different value props, different pricing models. Reclaim's free tier is generous for AI scheduling within one calendar. SyncCal's free tier is generous for sync between two calendars. Paid tiers have you compare features per dollar against what you actually need.
What about Motion, Clockwise, and Akiflow?
All AI schedulers in the same category as Reclaim. SyncCal coexists with all of them. If you're choosing between Motion vs Reclaim vs Clockwise, that's a separate decision from whether you need a sync engine.
