Apple iCloud Calendar ↔ Google Calendar

Sync Apple iCloud Calendar with Google Calendar

Mirror Apple iCloud Calendar events into Google Calendar and back. Connect via CalDAV with an app-specific password and let SyncCal keep both in lockstep.

How to sync Apple iCloud Calendar with Google Calendar

About 5 minutes. No credit card required.

  1. Generate an app-specific password for iCloud

At appleid.apple.com, under Sign-In and Security, generate an app-specific password labeled SyncCal. Apple requires this for any third-party CalDAV client.

  2. Add the iCloud connection in SyncCal

In SyncCal, click Connect Calendar and choose Apple iCloud. Enter your Apple ID and the app-specific password you just generated.

  3. Connect Google Calendar

Click Connect Calendar again, choose Google, and complete the OAuth flow.

  4. Pick the iCloud calendars to mirror

Apple often exposes Home, Work, and Family calendars. Choose whichever should appear in Google.

  5. Choose direction and filters

Pick one-way or two-way sync. Optionally filter by keyword or time range to keep private events out.

  6. Verify with a test event

Create an event in iCloud Calendar. It should appear in Google within two minutes, and vice versa for two-way sync.

Why people sync iCloud with Google

Apple Calendar is fast on Apple devices, but most teams operate in Google Workspace. SyncCal bridges the two so an event on your iPhone appears in your team’s Google Calendar without manual duplication.

Privacy model

SyncCal never sees your main Apple ID password. The app-specific password you generate can only access iCloud’s CalDAV endpoint and can be revoked at any time from your Apple ID settings.

Common configurations

  • iCloud Home calendar to a shared Google work calendar: keep colleagues aware of personal commitments without giving them full access.
  • Google Work to iCloud Family: keep your family iPad aware of your work schedule.
  • Two-way for solo founders: edit anywhere, stay consistent everywhere.

For terminology, see the CalDAV glossary entry and what two-way sync means.

Questions about Apple iCloud Calendar and Google Calendar sync

Can iCloud Calendar sync with Google Calendar two ways?

Yes. SyncCal supports two-way sync between Apple iCloud and Google Calendar. Edits, deletions, and new events on either side are mirrored to the other.

Why does iCloud need an app-specific password?

Apple does not expose OAuth for third-party CalDAV clients. App-specific passwords are Apple's official mechanism for granting limited access without sharing your main Apple ID password.

Will iCloud reminders or contacts be synced?

No. SyncCal only mirrors calendar events. Reminders, contacts, photos, and other iCloud data are never accessed.

Is this faster than Apple's built-in Google Calendar option?

Apple's built-in Google account integration only renders Google events inside the Apple Calendar app. It does not push iCloud events into Google. SyncCal handles that direction.

Does this work on iPhone and Mac at the same time?

Yes. SyncCal runs in the cloud, so any device connected to iCloud or Google sees the synced events automatically.
